Thanks to the efforts of the Friends of Plean Country Park the walkway over the Dipping Pond has been replaced. The old walkway had served for many years allowing park users to get closer to nature and investigate the aquatic life in the pond. Inevitably over the years the supporting structure deteriorated and had to be removed by Stirling Council as it was beyond repair and unsafe.
Over the last year the Friends of Plean Country Park worked on a project to install a new boardwalk. We were successful in obtaining grant funding from Clacks and Stirling Environment Trust, the Hugh Fraser Foundation and Certas. Thanks to additional funds donated by park users and Facebook followers the project went ahead in early February.
Thanks go to contractors MacColl & Stokes Landscaping for their hard work during such a wet period. The team were friendly , helpful, tidy and did a great job.
The new structure is wheelchair accessible, and has been installed on recycled plastic composite posts for extended life and finished with easily maintainable user friendly wooden decking .
This work would not have been possible without the support of Stirling Council and our funders, and of course park users who donated so generously via the Stirling Community Lottery, Easyfundraising and our Just Giving page.
