Mole

MoleMole (Talpa europaea)  Moles are small mammals with a cylindrical body about 12cm (5 in) long. They have velvety fur, tiny or invisable ears and eyes, a pink pointed nose and short powerful limbs with large paws used for digging.

They dig about 20m (65ft) of tunnel per day and leave characteristic mounds of soil on the surface as they dig them out. They use the tunnels to hunt for food, mainly earthworms, insects, beetles and slugs.

They will dig almost anywhere there is deep enough well-drained soil but mostly on grassland and deciduous woodland. They can move their own weight of soil every minute. For its size it is one of the worlds most powerful animals.
